If you could hear your child's first word or improve his ability to communicate more effectively, how much would it mean to you ?

The Centre has pioneered the combination of Auditory Integration Training, Light Therapy and a Sound Modulation System in a unique effective therapy, which has a 70% chance of making a real difference to your child.

Auditory Integration Training is a treatment for hearing imbalance, which was developed by Dr. Guy Berard, a world authority on hearing.

He found that many children with autism heard sounds differently to others and as this disturbed them so much it prevented them speaking or communicating properly and this was the main cause for their retreating into their own world.

He believed that this was a major cause of temper tantrums, hyperactivity and anti-social behaviour. Dr Berard devised a computerised system - the Audiokinetron, designed to retrain the hearing mechanism.

After a short course of retraining, he found that many children could be de-sensitized to the disturbing sounds and they began to relax, became less anxious and fearful, and began to speak and interact with people.

They also began to socialise more and their behaviour became more manageable and adaptable. This was a major breakthrough and the original AIT therapy began to be used for more children with autism. This therapy, which is widely available in the USA, is completely non-invasive and totally drug free and has no side effects.

The National Light and Sound Therapy Centre built on this success and after further research alongside doctors and specialists have increased the effectiveness of AIT training by adding Light Therapy and a Sound Modulation system. To our knowledge, this combination treatment is unavailable anywhere else in the world.

The treatment stimulates the brain, through the ears and the eyes and whilst having most effect on speech, sound sensitivity and behaviour, frequently makes a difference in other areas. Many parents report that their child sleeps better, eats a more varied diet, has improved eye contact, and is more relaxed and amenable.

The treatment is also useful for improving concentration span, ADD & ADHD, learning abilities and dyslexia.
